BURMESE AMERICAN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING SOCIETY

Who We Are?

BACKGROUND

In the late eighties, the Burmese Community in Southern California was growing, and so was the number of Science and Engineering professionals who migrated from Burma.  Many of these early pioneers felt the need for a formal professional organization that promotes fellowship and mutual help.  In 1988 “BURMESE AMERICAN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING SOCIETY” (BASES) was formed to serve this need.  It is a non-profit, non-religious and non-political organization, approved by the State of California and the IRS under IRC Section 501(c)(6).

OUR MISSION

The mission of BASES is to provide an opportunity for Science and Engineering Professionals of Burmese heritage to network and support each other in promoting the well being of fellow members and the Burmese Community in the United States. BASES also fosters a supportive environment which recognizes younger generation Burmese who share similar views.
